Responsibilities
Collaboration
Work closely with Crude Oil Marketers and Traders to maintain daily insight into ongoing business activity and market shifts.
Collaborate extensively with the finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.
Guide team members through non-routine transactions and contribute to team training and development.
Support the monthly commodity settlements and assist in closing activities.
Identify and implement solutions that keep pace with business growth and operational changes.
Accounting
Manage timely settlement of commodity transactions, tolls, and broker invoices for crude oil.
Analyze and account for realized derivatives, inventory fluctuations, and unusual transactions.
Ensure the accuracy of revenue, cost of sales, and margin calculations.
Conduct thorough verification of inter-company accounting tie-outs.
Audit and verify tolls, tariffs, shipper balances, and settlement figures.
Record transactions in the general ledger with precision and attention to detail.
Reporting
Contribute to the development and enhancement of both operational and financial reporting systems.
Provide in-depth analytical support to the Front Office and Trading teams.
Support corporate financial reporting and interact with external auditors.
Utilize tools like Essbase to conduct ad-hoc data analysis and explain front office performance metrics.
A university degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline is required.
CPA or other professional accounting designation strongly preferred.
At least 6 years of progressive experience in a finance/accounting environment.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to engage cross-functional teams.
A commercial mindset with exposure to commodity trading and Trader/Marketer collaboration.
Advanced analytical capabilities and eagerness to expand into new skill areas.
Proven experience in improving and executing financial and system processes.
Familiarity with financial systems and trading tools like Oracle, Smartview, Egistix, or OpenLink is a plus.
Work Environment
Based in an office environment with tight reporting deadlines.
